What this checks — and what it does not

  • Well-formed XML; document type (UBL 2.1 Invoice/CreditNote or UN/CEFACT CII D16B).
  • A subset of EN 16931 business rules: mandatory header fields (BR-01 to BR-11), mandatory totals and lines (BR-12 to BR-16, BR-21 to BR-26), and the total arithmetic (BR-CO-10 to BR-CO-16).
  • Per VAT rate: exactly one VAT category on each document allowance/charge (BR-32/BR-37), taxable amount per category = line nets − allowances + charges at that rate (BR-S-08 family), VAT per category within ±1 of taxable × rate (BR-CO-17). Monetary totals at most 2 decimals (BR-DEC); rounding amount below 1.
  • Warnings: buyer reference present (required by XRechnung), seller electronic address present (required by Peppol), line net ≠ quantity × price − line allowances + charges by more than 0.01 (as Peppol R120), VAT per category more than 0.01 away from taxable × rate.
  • Not checked: XSD schema, code lists, VAT-category rules, XRechnung and Peppol schematron. A clean result here does not mean the invoice passes KoSIT, CEN or Peppol validation. Our paid audits run all three official validators.
